If a car is highly tuned, it’s likely that the MAF sensor will exceed its maximum operating range. This causes the car to enter limp mode and to throw up engine fault codes. Whilst the MAF is a very important sensor in the car, if this is happening it’s probably best to have a MAF Delete or bypass to remove any fault codes.
