Service prices

We service to your manufacturer’s schedule – that is what keeps a warranty valid and what your car actually needs. These four levels are the guide prices those schedules usually land on, so you know roughly what you are looking at before you enquire.

Interim, full and major are the industry names for these – Bronze, Silver and Gold are ours.

Guide prices only – an oil surcharge may apply on cars that take specialist or large-capacity oils. Put your registration in and we’ll confirm the exact price for your car before anything is booked.

Which service does my car need?

The honest answer depends on mileage, age and what was done last time – here is the rule of thumb we work to.

Every 12 months / 10,000 miles

Interim – Bronze

Oil and filter, fluids topped, and an 85-point look over the car. The minimum to keep a modern engine healthy and the service record going.

Every 2 years / 20,000 miles

Full – Silver

Adds the air and pollen filters and a brake fluid check on top of the oil service, with the same full 85-point inspection. The one most cars want most years.

Every 3–4 years / 40,000 miles

Major – Gold

Adds spark plugs, fuel filter and gearbox oil. Catches the items people forget until they cause a misfire or a harsh-shifting box.

Not sure what your car has had? We can check the schedule from your registration and tell you what is actually due – no upsell.

Why an independent tuner

We read the data,
not just the menu.

We spend our week calibrating engines and gearboxes on a 4WD dyno. That means when your car comes in for a service, we already understand how it should be behaving – so a misfire, a boost leak or a tired clutch gets spotted while it is cheap to fix.

Servicing here is warranty-safe: we follow the manufacturer’s schedule, use Liqui Moly oils and quality filters, and record the work properly. Your dealer warranty stays intact – the block exemption rules mean a franchise dealer cannot insist you service with them.

  • Manufacturer service schedules followed and stamped
  • Liqui Moly oils, engine flush and ceramic protection available
  • Free health check and fault code scan with every service
  • Diagnostics by people who write engine software daily

What the 85-point inspection covers

Every service level gets the same 85 checks – only the parts replaced change. Here is what we are actually looking at while your car is with us.

Engine bay

Oil condition and level, coolant strength and level, brake and clutch fluid, power steering, washer fluid, drive belts, hoses and pipework for perishing or chafing, visible oil and coolant leaks, battery condition and charging voltage, engine breather system, and the turbo and intake pipework for boost leaks – the fault most garages miss because they never look for it.

Under the car

Sump and gearbox for weeping, driveshaft gaiters, exhaust system and mountings, suspension arms, bushes and ball joints for play, shock absorbers for leaking, springs for corrosion or breakage, steering rack gaiters and track rod ends, subframe and underbody condition, and the fuel lines and tank straps.

Brakes, tyres and wheels

Pad thickness measured on all four corners, disc condition and lipping, calipers and sliders, flexible hoses and hard lines, handbrake travel and operation, tyre tread depth across each tyre, uneven wear that points at alignment, sidewall damage, age of the tyres, pressures set correctly, and wheel nut torque.

Electrics and diagnostics

A full fault code scan across every module – not just the engine light – plus stored and pending codes, all exterior and interior lighting, horn, wipers and washers, heating and air-con output temperature, and the dashboard warning systems.

Inside the car

Seatbelt condition and retraction, mirrors and glass for chips and cracks, pedal rubbers, clutch bite point, gear selection, handbrake, and the service interval indicator reset properly – the small one people forget, which leaves the car nagging you the whole way home.

And then we tell you

Anything we find is photographed and sent to you with a price before a spanner touches it. Green means fine, amber means keep an eye, red means it needs doing – and we are happy to tell you when something has plenty of life left in it. That is the point of a health check, not a shopping list.

While it’s with us

The jobs customers usually bundle with a service – done in the same visit.

★★★★★

Went in for a service, they spotted a worn bush on the ramp and showed me before doing anything. That is why I keep going back.

Half what the main dealer quoted, same oil, and the service book stamped properly. No reason to go back to the dealer.

Booked the car in for a full service and a fault I’d had for months. They diagnosed it in an hour when two garages had guessed.

Car servicing in Maidstone, Kent

JF Automotive is an independent car servicing and tuning centre in Maidstone, Kent, a few minutes from junction 7 of the M20. We service everything from a daily Fiesta to a Porsche or McLaren, to the manufacturer’s own schedule, at independent prices rather than main-dealer ones.

Every car gets an oil and filter change with the correct specification oil, a fluid check, and our 85-point inspection – the same 85 checks whichever service level you choose. Anything we find is photographed and explained before any extra work happens, so a service never turns into a surprise bill.

Will servicing here affect my warranty?

No. EU block exemption rules mean any qualified garage can service a car under manufacturer warranty as long as the correct schedule, parts and fluids are used and the work is recorded. That is exactly what we do, and we stamp the book or update the digital record.

More than a service

Because we spend our week on ECU remapping and tuning, we know how these engines behave when they are right. That makes the diagnostics sharper: we data-log rather than guess. Customers regularly come for a service and leave with a fault fixed that another garage had thrown parts at. If your car is due other work, we also handle wheel alignment, gearbox oil changes, air-con regas and general repairs in the same visit.

Price my service

Tell us the car and its mileage and we’ll come back with the schedule it is due and the exact price – no obligation, no call centre.

Common questions

How much does a car service cost in Maidstone?
Our guide prices start at £169 for an interim (Bronze) service, £239 for a full (Silver) service and £339 for a major (Gold) service, including VAT. That is around what a typical UK garage charges, from a workshop that also tunes these cars. An oil surcharge can apply to engines needing specialist or large-capacity oil, so put your registration in above and we will confirm the exact figure before anything is booked.
How often should I service my car?
As a rule, an interim service every 12 months or 10,000 miles and a full service every 2 years or 20,000 miles – but the manufacturer’s schedule for your exact model comes first, and we work to that. Give us the registration and we will tell you what is due.
Will an independent service void my warranty?
No. Block exemption rules mean you can have your car serviced anywhere qualified, provided the correct schedule, parts and fluids are used and the service is recorded. We follow the schedule, use manufacturer-specification oils and stamp your book.
Do you service performance and prestige cars?
Yes – Porsche, McLaren, Aston Martin, Bentley, Land Rover and the fast Audi, BMW and Mercedes models are everyday work here, and we tune many of them too. See the by-make pages above.
Can you do an MOT at the same time?
We can arrange an MOT alongside your service so the car is only off the road once. Mention it when you book and we will sort the timing.
How long does a service take?
Most interim services are a few hours and full services are usually a same-day job. If we find something that needs attention we will call you with photos and a price before doing any extra work.
